History of Benson Guest House
Built in 1881 by William Benson, this home has been restored and renovated to preserve the historical charm while integrating modern conveniences. It has housed a number of different businesses over the years, including a boarding house in the early 1900s and law offices through 2018. Subtle reminders of the history can be found throughout, especially in Unit 2 with a framed picture of the original family in front of the Benson Family Home in the early 1900s and a photocopy of an original letter written by William Benson to his wife Felicia in 1865. Our local library has many original documents pertaining to the history of this home in their archives, and there is an historical marker on the street, honoring the history of the Bensons and this home.
